Manifesto 2025

To generate new opportunities for my customers through the creation of inspiring photographs and films.

Vision

Build lasting relationships and collaborate with people who share my values and want to explore new ideas for photography. Produce work that is accurate, honest and natural in style. Offset any carbon footprint generated from my work.

Mission

My core values

Universalism

Individuals have different needs and seeing those addressed in architecture and design inspires me.

I want to work with people who believe the same because this will generate more efficacious collaboration between us.

With loyalty comes lasting relationships which veer away from transactional and move closer to emotional.

Loyalty

I want to work with people who believe the same because it will create a more profound level of trust and commitment between us, as well as advocacy for each other.

Working freelance affords me opportunities to focus on my family, my development and my general well-being.

Balance

I want to work with people who appreciate and understand this because it will lead to a stronger bond in our relationship.

I am ‘interpersonally' and ‘transpersonally’ curious which means I’m interested in how people, society and experiences are inter-connected and how they are shaped by the world around us.

Curiosity

I want to work with people who have a similar sense of curiosity because it will promote team-working between us and provide common ground for us to achieve together.

As climate change tightens its grip on the planet, sustainability and environmental awareness are now more important than ever when it comes to architecture and design.

Environmental care

I want to work with people that have this as part of their broader design ethos because I’m incredibly interested in new technologies and methods that have a positive impact on our environment.

What is important to me?

  • Meeting new people and learning about their stories

  • Telling stories of architecture, design, and of the people that occupy it

  • Quality above quantity - ensuring clients end up with a well-curated set of photos.

  • Seeing and learning about how life is enhanced / restricted by good / poor design

  • Producing work that is clean in quality and full of everyday life in content

  • Lasting, fruitful and values-based relationships with clients

  • Donating a portion of my commission fee to the National Trust’s ‘Plant A Tree’ programme to offset any carbon footprint generated through my work.

What underpins my photography?

1. Design

  • Understanding and illustrating the key design principles of a project

  • Illustrating the studio’s overall underlying design ethos.

“Neil’s ability to capture the harmony between aesthetic appeal and practical functionality in our projects really sets him apart. His keen eye and dedication to portraying our design ethos make him an indispensable part of our marketing efforts.”

    - Ben Adams Architects

2. Narrative

  • Illustrating a project succinctly and comprehensively

  • Studying broader contextual compositions through to smaller details

“Neil is a master of photographic craft. He has an ability to translate the atmosphere of and narrative behind architectural projects. You can be sure that the images produced will be the work of a true artist.”

    - The Modern House

3. Composition

  • Seeking angles and compositions that put everyday life front and centre of the photograph

  • Using the form of a building / space to create images that are visually arresting

4. Inspiration

  • It is critical that my work serves as inspiration to my clients’ prospective customers.

  • Those future customers should be able to see themselves, their businesses, their communities in my photography.
