A photographer from London, England.
I’ve always had an interest in images. As a child I’d spend hours drawing pictures and taking photos on my parents’ Olympus Trip 35. My teenage years were spent ‘designing’ buildings – unfortunately, none of which ever got built! But my understanding of images and pictures changed between the ages of 14 and 16 when I studied a course at school called Design & Communication. D&C introduced me to the concept of creating images with power in order to tell a story or convey a message.
As I got older my interest in photography blossomed and I began to see that I had an eye for a good shot or a new angle. I’ve retained my passion for architecture (mostly modern) and enjoy seeing how buildings interact with people and the spaces around them. I also enjoy taking portraits – the happy faces at the end of a shoot are very rewarding for me! But most of my photography comprises candid shots of people, daily life and the goings on of the world.
I enjoy the challenge of trying to find the extraordinary within the ordinary, to quote a certain well-known photographer! There is always something new to see, even if you’ve seen ‘it’ before; the light is never the same at any one place.
That’s why I love London; there’s inspiration and surprise lurking round every corner.
